Chromosomal Analysis of Mitosis and Meiosis in Korean Striped Field Mouse(Apodemus agrarius)

Abstract
The karyotype of Korean striped field mouse (Apodemus agrarius) at mitosis was analysed by G-banding and C-banding. Meiotic chromosomal characteristics were also examined through diplotene, diakinesis, metaphase I and spermatogenesis. Chromosome number in Apodemus agrarius was 2n=48, comprising 21 pairs of telocentric, 2 pairs of metacentric, and 1 pair of acrocentric. The Y chromosome showed three thick bands through length, indicating that heterochromatin was comprised evenly. The chromosome size appeared as a short form and the chromosome shape also became simplicity because of condensation during diplotene, diakinesis, and metaphase I. Most of the bivalent types in the spermatocytes of striped field mouse were 1CH, 1TA §¤ and 2TA types. The data will be of great use in further studies for understanding the molecular characterizations of Apodemus agrarius.
